No Instincts

So when I was pregnant with Emma, I was sure I was having a boy. Not sure why, but I was certain of it. I was drawn to blue and "boy" things, and had my mind set on football games and a huge appetite. The only indicators of girl were the fact that "Emma" just sounded so natural to me. Like I was meant to have an Emma. That, and my two dreams that revealed girl. Of course, I ignored those signs and was totally floored to hear "It's a girl" when Miss Emma arrived. I was so excited, but felt so silly for calling this poor baby a "he" for the 9 months she was in my belly!

So on to this baby...

Again, our girl name (Kendall Faith) just feels right. But maybe it's because I can picture a sweet face and bouncing pigtails more easily now. Either way, it sits well with me, and I know it is the perfect name if we have another girl.

Now, my "gut" says boy because 1. these kicks are really, really strong and 2. My dreams have been boy. And while we're not set on a boy name just yet, our top choice at the moment -- Austin Bernard (my maiden name) -- is starting to feel right. So I am back to football games and a stocked fridge.

BUT...the last few nights I've had two dreams and both clearly showed I was having a girl.

What the heck? Do I have any maternal instincts in me at all?

Yes, of course you do - which is evidenced by the fact that our little Miss Emma is such a loving sweetheart. Being maternal has absolutely nothing to do with being able to correctly 'guess' the gender of your child - face it, no matter what anyone says, without benefit of an ultrasound or amnio, it IS just a guess! I think you're a great mom - just relax and enjoy the surprise that God has in store for you.

Maybe it's one of each!?!?! Lol! Sorry, I couldn't resist. The good part of all this is that we only have to wait about 7 more weeks to find out! I can't wait to meet you, Austin or Kendall!
Btw...say it outloud, Emma & Austin sounds soooo cute!

I was NEVER right! I was convinced Caroline was a boy. I was pretty sure Wyatt was a girl. The others? I didn't even venture a guess.

A great resource for names and feedback on names is www.parentsoup.com They have a baby name message board where you can get true opinions because they don't know you and aren't afraid to hurt your feelings! I got help there with all 4 of my babies.

I never knew with my boys. With Rece I thought he was a girl, but with Carmine I had no idea.

I never had any instincts at all. I don't know how you are waiting to find out. I could hardly make it to 20 weeks for my ultrasounds. I have to tell you though that I'm pulling for Austin. It's Hunter's middle name and almost what we named him. But my cousins baby is named Kendall, and she is the prettiest little thing ever. Either way I don't think you could go wrong!!

It will be so fun to find out! I have to say that I dreamed about both- and I have all boys! I love the names you've picked! Carter is Carter Wilson (my maiden name!)

You're a great mom to Emma; and you decided to have another child. Sounds like maternal instinct to me! And even with an US the dr. can be wrong...so really there is no way of knowing until that little one comes out to surprise you!

Ok I sent that "anonymous" message. Don't know why it didn't put my name. :)

You have more than enough maternal instincts! I was certain Cricket was a boy the moment we found out, but I think deep down I was hoping for a boy. So I think it just shows that you truly will appreciate and feel blessed with either gender!

But, just incase you are wondering, it is a boy :) Of course I was wrong the first time too!

With Rose I had dreams she was a girl. This time I had boy dreams - but then I also had twin dreams and dreams that we were supposed to have a boy, but then had a girl. Mainly boy dreams though - so hopefully those and the u/s are right and baby boy really is a boy!

I kinda think that already having a girl, makes you more likely to dream about more girl babies - just because that's who you've been mothering for 2+ years.

We had a girl name picked out this time, but aren't decided on a boy name yet. I have a few I like and Ben's told me which of those he likes best. Then he has one that he likes - which is a pretty good one, but I like my choice better. :P

I'm guessing you're having a boy - just because I am and then we'll match. :D

With Hailee I could have sworn it was a boy. With Gianna I had no clue. With this one I really have no clue. And I don't have any boy names that I think are the perfect fit. But I really love Mariolina(Mary-O-Leena)and think we have one of those in our future :o) At least your dreaming about babies. I'm dreaming about crazy things! Weird things and see strange things when I wake up out of my sleep!

I just looked up Austin in my Baby Name Wizard book - it has Emma listed as a "sister name". :D http://www.nymbler.com/ is a site by the same lady, if you're interested.

I don't have a blog anymore - would like to, but don't have the time / motivation to update it. So instead I have Flickr as somewhat of a 'photo blog' and I'm trying to keep up with a paper diary. New baby photos will be on Flickr come October. :)

I felt my first was a boy: correct! I felt my second was a girl: wrong!

I don't think anyone truely knows. It's all luck in guessing.
